Charlotte Carter showed courage and initiative beyond her years when she found her dad John drowning in the bath after he fell into a diabetic coma.

Charlotte, aged just five, was alone at home when she realised something was wrong. Her dad had been away for ages after saying he was just going to have a bath.

She went upstairs and found him unconscious in the tub and in danger of drowning. Charlotte was not strong enough to lift his head out of the water so she did the next best thing - and pulled out the bath-plug to drain the water away.

Then, realising that an open window which she couldn't reach was making her dad cold, she wrapped him in a towel.

But the danger was far from over. John had slumped into a coma because his blood-sugar level had fallen too low. He was close to death.

Again Charlotte didn't panic. Nobody had ever told her what to do if this happened but she remembered that mum Lorraine gave John something sweet whenever he "felt funny." She ran to the kitchen, grabbed a chocolate biscuit and pushed it into John's mouth.

Then she wrapped herself in a towel and cuddled up to her dad to keep him warm until help arrived. Her lonely vigil lasted an hour and a half.

When her older sister Laura arrived home, Charlotte explained what had happened and Laura ran to fetch their mum from a neighbour's house. Lorraine dashed home to find crying Charlotte still clinging to her unconscious dad.

Lorraine gave John a glucose injection and ten minutes later he came round. John, of Trimdon, Co Durham, says, "There can't be many fathers who can say they owe their lives to their five-year-old daughter.""

Not too long ago, during our first philo options if I recall correctly, Jing Hui asked me (about love) if I'm a 'chemicals' (as in reason) or 'fate' believer. I replied 'fate' without giving it a second though. As in, I've truly believed, all my life, that everything happens for a reason, even my wisdom tooth growing out and hurting like a bazooka which made me unable to sleep at all the day before HCL O's; me taking too much Panadols at once and feeling very oozy and unstable while taking the papers etc.
I believe it's a destiny that will lead us to something I'll eventually find in the future. But then whenever I think about fate, I remember '50 Days Of Summer'.
But I still believe in fate. Though, I too, believe that if I can change my fate, then that IS my fate.

Yes, this video got me thinking out loud.

Definitely a nice song and I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually like Party Girl x983927498375 times more, despite the vampires. With Taio Cruz, this new Mcfly song really lack the usual Mcfly OOMPH which is especially unique to Mcfly. This song has sososo much more potential if Cruz isn't the main singer in it. I don't know why they're featuring Cruz so much in this song, esp when the title of their upcoming album comes from this song! Riding on Cruz's popularity to gain more popularity? Surely they must know that they don't need it cuz they're awesome enough on their own.

as much as I am (still) appalled about the vampire theme of their latest single, I damned near jumped and started dancing when 987 played Party Girl for the first time ever. First week (or is it second? time flies to fast for me to keep track) the song's out and it's tops in the UK charts. I'm so proud to be a Mcfly fan ♥

I've never liked something so much before, seriously.

anyway, the point of this entry is really to say that I'm really glad that the official eya period is over and I'm extremely pleased with how I managed to pull myself together at the very last minute. At the very last minute meaning a week before exams and having to learn the entire year's syllabus from scratch. I have to say, this time around, it wasn't so much of stress as it was exhaustion. After term 1, my general performance has been slipping downhill uncontrollably and throughout term 3, I've been telling myself "I give up". But I guess at the bottom of my heart, somewhere, I knew I couldn't do it. As much as I hate the system and working senselessly and meaninglessly for my entire life, I really haven't got another choice.

I've always not truly felt satisfied with being in rgs.

And that time Ms Rohaini looked at me with much distaste when I said that I haven't done anything in my life that I deeply feel proud about, it got me thinking, throughout the bus ride home why is it that every single non-rgs person I've met in my life think that being in rgs is so great.

True, there's people who would go great lengths to take my place in rgs when they were in p6 and I guess it's time a understand that I should appreciate that I'm given the opportunity and it isn't as if I didn't work for this opportunity.

So when Beatrice and Chleong, who I love with all my heart, reacted to my statement "I'll just go to rj la, no choice", I realised, finally realised, after 4 whole years that people work so hard just to get to acjc (and they dare not even think of rj) and I'm GIVEN this place in rj almost definitely and I'm just going to throw it away?

I am so crazy mad glad I finally realised that I shouldn't be throwing all I have away and that the class I will be in in JC does matter.

I know I am going to hate a lot of things in rj, there are boys there for one.
and I know I am going to take a long time to get used to the new environment but I'll to count my blessings when I'm at my lowest, most unmotivated and most demoralized points in my life.

another thing I know is that I won't be terribly satisfied with my results (stupid omfg mistakes) and everyone else around me would do way better but I'll remember I PULLED MYSELF TOGETHER AND YES, I DID MY BEST.

yikes, I need to stop being hormonal and crying because I suddenly realise that I've been wrong all this while. Because I hated my school and life so much, I often felt like I really didn't matter at all to anyone. After reading the paintbrush story in A Sense of Belonging in sec two, I felt so worthless. When Ms Ong made us do the chart of what would happen should we be the ones who ceased to exist, who and what will be affected and how. The aim I guess, was to help enforce the feeling of worthiness within us. But even when the chart was due, all I could fill up was "my sister would never be born".

I don't really know when, but I suddenly realised that there really are people who would never replace me or anything else for something else. That, I genuinely matter to them.

From Shirlyn and Amelia who constantly stuck by me even when I was being most selfish, mean and infuriating.

From Valerie, whom I share a friendship with that is barely a month old, who organised a dinner on my birthday because of me.

From Beatrice calling me and bugging me for what I want, because it mattered to her that she got me something, something I really like.

From Yang Yi, Jing Yi, Gen, Amanda Han and DK who specially came together to give me one of the greatest surprises ever, eventhough they couldn't be physically there. And again, I barely know them (minus Yang Yi)

From Jolynn, Mags, Selene and Ying Xin who voluntarily went back to BK today to help me get back my jacket when I didn't even know they knew I left it there until they called me to tell me they went on a wild goose chase only to find that I went and got it back already.

From Celine, Esther and Jean, all of whom I know I can entrust anything upon them, who have been always been there regardless because TEAM sticks together, who specially arranged a whole day to celebrate my birthday with me when I didn't even ask. EVEN IF YOU GUYS ARE BETTING THAT ME, OF ALL PEOPLE, WOULD BE THE FIRST TO GET MARRIED, I ♥ YOU GUYS VERY MUCH.

I once posted how I dreaded me birthday because I didn't want to feel obligated to celebrate it with anyone. Little did I know that I was the privileged one when they wanted to celebrate it for me♥

It' s been MY honour to have you all to call my friend.

I'm never going to take anyone for granted again. And I'm promising myself that I will try my best to do just that and be as selfless as possible from now on, because I know one of my greatest flaws is that I'm really selfish, and I really want to change that about me.

SIDENOTE! Mcfly has very much influenced the way I think of my friends. Despite practically living next door to each other, they've never taken each other for granted for the past eight over years. You'll know just by reading their tweets about each other. It's that good.

yesterday, at around 8.15pm, I lost myself and relented to allowing myself get dragged to play lan, for like the first time ever. wonder why I want to type a meant-to-be-happy entry when I'm in such a downer mood now.

I really don't like being stuck at home all day, with nothing to look forward to at all. No fun plans till Thursday and that's not even confirmed):

and I can't do my math, feeling so epic fail.

I have no idea what I want to do on my birthday and no idea who I want to celebrate it with. Somehow, I feel it better not to celebrate it if I have to celebrate it with certain people just because I feel myself obligated to. Guess no one does realise how it feels when most people want to have as many people as possible at their party, regardless.

Lit and Math PT-ing and suddenly feel like not touching them two at all for a while.

It's actually been more than a little while ut still can't get myself to start doing them again.

It feels really demoralising when you have to sit for three papers consecutively and come out realising you prolly screwed them all up.

I didn't write all my points for social studies down, NO TIME. I think my first and only point was quite weak and my counter is a stronger point. My essay wasn't persuasive and the way I ended it?- abrupt and rushed.

Math was, in summary, NO TIME. You don't want to get me started on my Mfreaking2. And Chinese, as usual, didn't finish. At least for once, at least 5 and definitely more people didn't finish one to two questions which is 8-ish marks. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. Happye(-sh sad). No reason for tuition teacher/mom to nagnagnag at my slowness and lack of time management. (which is true and I know that already, darn it)

But we're still gonna put all our effort into making a good film, I hope.

this week's been wrecked emotions week.
I've been happy, relieved, upset, stressed and there's always this nagging feeling at the back of my head then followed by guilt, a rebellious feeling.
for today, I've been well, down.
I've always got a feeling that I'm not doing enough and exams being near and everything.
but then I've been trying to figure out why I can't bring myself to concentrate and can't find the reason.
YES, I'VE BEEN FEELING SO EXTREMEMLY FRUSTRATED AND ANNOYED WITH MYSELF D:
at least school's sort of fun, with Lianne and all.
I remember the last time my deskmate made going to school something to look forward to was in P4.

Ever stopped & think about whether you should or not stretch out a hand in kindness when you see a chance too?

maybe 99% of the time when we do an act of kindness, it isn't so random.
you see a chance to do kind, you probably think about it and then decide whether you want to do it or not.
for me, the times I choose not to take up that chance, it's often because:

I don't feel comfortable helping this particular person
I don't have the time/ I'm rushing (excuses, excuses!)
Other people can help, doesn't have to be me (chicken!)
I'm just less socially aware when it comes to stretching out a helping hand (true, since it usually takes a while for me to realise HOW I can come to use but by then, I'll persuade myself it's no difference or it's just too late. BUT! I'll feel bad about not helping 100% of the time in such cases. HAH)
I just don't feel like it.

I'm sure there're tons of other reasons not to help, but al these are those I've personally experienced/ can think off from the top of my head.
you see, acts of kindness ARENT random, though they sometimes feel so.
I'll say, that's because you feel that you're OBLIGED or have a RESPONSIBILITY to do so because this is how you're taught since forever, or you're afraid people will judge you if you choose not to do it.
as simple as you see your teacher carrying a whole lot of stuff in his/her hands.
WILL YOU STOP AND HELP? Or, WILL YOU CHOOSE TOPRETEND TO NOT SEE HIM/HER?
sounds familiar huh, very much like giving up your seat to those who need it more in a public transport.

Another example, your friend dropped something, most people would automatically help pick it up for him/her.
and I'll say, it's because we're so used to doing it, we don't even think about it, we've been TRAINED to do it ever since forever.
Up till here, if you're thinking of asking, what's the point of typing all these, I'm still trying finding the answer to that too.
Random acts of kindness. Really, how random are they?

I love my daddy, and not just because he paid for it.
I THINK I'M GETTING ADDICTED TO ONLINE SHOPPING!
I've spent over a hundred online shopping within this two months already D:

but window online shopping is fine.

went with family to some music thing at Botanical.
pretty awesome experience though I spent most of the two hours observing people rather than appreciating the music I guess. (it ain't my kind of music you see)

as much as I love the seven-ology,
I've got to be honest about how me in particular felt about the movie.
by the way, I know there's a proper word for seven-ology but mine version's cooler.
before I say anything, one thing I'd like to put across.
J.K Rowling's books are BRILLIANT.
the movie's just totally uncomparable.
this is gonna be simply dreadful. I feel conflicted.
Liking the book makes me want to like the movie though it's really a HUGEMONGOUS disappoinment for me.
Didn't help that I just read that book too. WHOOPS.
Let's just make it quick by quoting critiques.

While the film has its moments of visual elegance, its lack of narrative rhythm and jumbled sense of forced plot points will leave ravenous Potter fans griping about what's been left out and those poor souls who haven't read the books perpetually confused.

I thought that the whole thing was incoherent.
Books can jump scenes effectively at every chapter and make a lasting impact but not this movie.
and yes, Bernice and I were raving about the interesting details and duels that were left out.
(yeah, we were complaining every say, ten minutes throughout the movie?)
TERRIBLE, I know, but we couldn't help it!
(luckily, the seat beside me was empty. Guy a seat away must've been quite annoyed though)
and they tweaked the bits they showed so much!

A Cliff Notes version of the book that misses every major plot point and narrative thrust. But hey, they certainly picked up on the teen romance. Yey, for them. Worst film Adaptation, Ever!

I'd rather they split the movie into parts to make a better adaptation.
the book's 600+ pages long and they squished it into 2.5 hours.
and yeapp, whatever happned to interesting lessons/obssessions over Malfoy's doings and friendships got drowned out by stupidstupid scenes of Lavender and Ron.

once-thrilling Quidditch games were shortened and made just plain funny, climax none whatsoever!
Apparition lessons and tests, biggest final game of Quidditch, Potter landing in hospital, about 4 pensieve memories all NOTICEABLY excluded.
it seemed under-done! EVERYTHING!
and since when was the invisibility cloaked left unused and since when was it GREY and DIRTY?
nothing spectecular about the setting and I really don't understand why most critiques liked it so much.
Plot's undeveloped, thoroughly unclimatic.
one thing I enjoyed though, would be the funny parts.
and RON who is cute acting dazed and in love.

but I felt it seemed like a 2.5 hour teaser than something resembling a movie.
doesn't mean I like Radcliffe any less eh.

yeapp. the movie was an adulterated version though.
still, she never found the kid but never gave up.
the ending was bittersweet.
Clint Eastwood didn't make the ending the typical Hollywood kind.

ever since school closed, it's 1030 on 1100 to wake wake every morning and then this week starts and it's 0620 everyday!
Day 3, midweek Wednesday and we're all taotally dead.
Bernice and I were sleeping on the bus, which isn't usual for us and when I got home, I slept until now, since 0530
thing is, we don't even do much during WEP.
for the most part, we just "observe" for 7hours?!!
I'm serious, that's all we do. but we do talk to the various nurses and stuff laaa.
